Here is a great follow-up article to my recent post, published by the Harvard School of Public Health. They not only discuss many of the problems with the current MyPyramid, but also offer some interesting solutions, most importantly the Harvard Healthy Eating Pyramid addresses the differences between whole foods and processed/refined products. This is definitely a much better model to follow than MyPyramid and above all is more instructional. Although I’m still anticipating the soon to be released pie chart model, it seems like a more approachable way to emulate what each plate should look like.
